Welcome to Department of Rubber Technology
Diploma Programme in Rubber Technology is started in the year 1999 by Government
Polytechnic, Mumbai in collaboration with AIRIA (All India Rubber Industries
Association). This Diploma programme is only one of its kinds in Maharashtra state and
is vibrating symbol of Institute – Industry Co-operation promoting purposeful technical
education in the field of Rubber Technology. The Programme is good blend of theory
and practical including semester 6 as actual training in the Industry. The department
offers a three-year post SSC diploma programme. The duration of this course is 3
years, During the tenure students are exposed to industrial environment in the area of
Rubber Product Manufacturing and services. This is self-finance programme and we are
getting support from AIRIA (All India Rubber Industries Association) for 100 % job
placement of the students. Student can pursue higher studies also after completing
diploma in Rubber Technology.
- Rubber Technology course is maintaining its 100 % placement record from the
inception of this course. - This is a unique course of its kind in the state of Maharashtra.
Vision
This is a unique course of its kind in the state of Maharashtra.

Rubber Technology is one of the branches of engineering. This branch deals with natural rubber, synthetic rubber, processing of latex so that all this can latter on transformed to useful products out of the same. Rubber Technology is a science that will deal with the processing, molding and transforming of rubber and its associated products to those which can later be put to use in our daily life and industrial purposes as well. Garments, toys, undergarments are this all thing where rubber or its associated constituents are put to use for our daily life. There is also the use of rubber and it’s like to use in stationeries for students, accessories like bands, musical instruments, automobile parts for ease compression, washers etc. Not to forget that rubber is used most for the manufacture of tyres and also for different type of vehicles ranging from a plane to a cycle. The increase in the use and production of automobiles has enhanced the use of rubber in industries and made rubber technology become a lucrative career option.

Major Labs :
Rubber Technology Departments consist of two well equipped laboratories and other laboratories are in sharing basis with Mechanical Engineering department.
1. Rubber Testing Lab :
In rubber testing lab, we conduct physical testing like Hardness, Tensile testing, Mooney Viscosity, Rheometric test etc. of rubber and some of the chemical testing like Ash content pH, Melting point.
